As we are almost through the entire year, we have finally met Animation.
The graphics of animation is a lot simpler than we had expected, and I'm actually proud of myself for catching onto the process. The thing that interests me most about 3D animation is how long the process has been around. Its a common fact that Toy Story was the very first ever computer animated movie. Surprise, that was only about 23 years ago. Since then it is obvious we have gotten farther, especially with Pixar movies. Since the, the most recent Pixar movies are the up coming and awaited, Incredibles 2, and the actually released and highly proclaimed, Coco. There are other 3D animation movie companies, such as Dream Works Productions and Studio Ghibli which are both closely proclaimed, but Disney's Pixar is surely a bit better known than the others. For the past two weeks in class we have learned about story boarding and how video games and comic books are made. One of the most interesting things about it is how much time is put into making even a short comic strip.
The first two stages, Plot and Concept could take years. You could almost think of it as writing a short book with pictures. After general planning the writers would work on a script while artists would generally start on a rough draft. If all timing goes right, the two groups would be finished around the same time and all that would need to be done is editing. Alas that doesn't happen often. Commonly everyone in the making of the comic would get together to finish everything by an exact date. This is called Crunch Time. Often during this time, people will stay after hours, sleep at the office and even work on projects unfamiliar to reach a date. The process of comic animation is a lot more work than what it looks. But at least someone is there to make everyone favorite comic books. https://tinyurl.com/mmxclw2 |
